Recently I’ve been doing some “spring cleaning.”
I’ve been prioritizing the people and relationships in my life I’m going to put a substantial amount of energy and effort into.
I’m cleaning out my “junk drawer” of friends, so to speak.
Now I know some of you are thinking how in the world can I just pick and choose who I put effort towards, especially as a Christian woman? Doesn’t the Bible say to love others?
Yes, it does! Love everyone around you. But you see, love isn’t the same thing as energy. For example, I know this great girl who I’m friends with but every time I hangout with her I feel like I’m not being treated with respect and that would cause drama, which led to fights, and eventually and apology and then the cycle would restart. It was an emotionally draining friendship. Don’t get me wrong, she’s an amazing girl but our personalities just did not click in a healthy way.
Therefore, I cleaned her out of my junk drawer. I didn’t just throw her in the trash, it just means I’m not going to always text/call/snap her everyday. I still follow her on social media and I’m there when she’s in need, but when I need a shoulder to cry on or my best friend, she’s not the person I dial.
I truly believe the people who you surround yourself with impact how you feel and how you see yourself. If you’re around encouraging, uplifting, drama-free, people then your mood tends to be better. I know personally I feel a surge of self confidence and peace in my heart. But, when I surround myself with friends who do uplift me, keep me second guessing our friendship, and have drama I feel down.
“There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (NLT)
So, if you’re feeling like the friendships and the relationships you’re putting energy into aren’t building you up and bringing you closer to God, I challenge you too take a hard look and see if you need to do some “spring cleaning.”
As always, if you need prayer or want to share your testimony comments or message me!

This was powerful…..love the honesty you have put into it. How you have presented the Word of God not only as some sermon but portraying not only the picture perfect aspect of love but the honest truth. Continue being real
