This morning I found out that a friend of mine committed suicide.
Sadly, it wasn’t incredibly shocking.
So often we brush mental illness under the rug or treat it like it’s not a very big deal.
MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT A JOKE.
It’s not a choice and it’s not a crock. It’s real and it hurts.
If someone tells you they are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, etc. don’t just write them off. It takes courage and strength to admit to yourself, let alone someone else, that your hurting.
Instead of telling them to get over it or buck up, pray with them and then pray for them continuously. Be their rock when they can’t stand on their own two feet. Treat them with respect, love, and kindness.
Love them.
Love them hard.
>>> this is my second friend in 3 years that has committed suicide. Please don’t be like me. Don’t feel guilty and ashamed because you wish you would’ve done more. Instead do more.
This is a terrible feeling to have and one that I cannot express
